Dopper is working hard to create a world in which everyone takes part in reducing single-use plastic. It is a tough job, because there are decades of plastic waste floating around in our oceans. The Ocean Cleanup by Boyan Slat has a solution to offer for this problem.
A kid cleaning the ocean?
During a diving holiday in Greece, Boyan Slat (born in 1994) came out of the water, frustrated that there were “more plastic bags than fish.” He asked himself, “How can we clean all this up?”
Since then, the Ocean Cleanup has become a huge organization. Boyan has interrupted his studies of aerospace engineering at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands to lead a team of more than 100 people.
Dopper and The Ocean Cleanup
Boyan’s out-of-the-box thinking is in line with the Dopper’s attitude. The world needs more impact pioneers. We work on both sides of the same problem: Dopper on prevention and Boyan on cleanup.
In the meantime, The Ocean Cleanup has successfully completed two crowd funding projects The last one raised more than 2 million dollars! We sponsored these actions by providing Doppers to the donators.
Our Project – Plastic Bridge
Every 30 seconds 25,000 P.E.T. bottles are purchased in the U.S. alone and they ultimately make their way to our oceans. At Dopper, our dream is crystal clear water from every ocean to every tap. Which is why this year, Dopper Foundation is building bridges to a P.E.T. free world. Starting with a replica of one of the most iconic landmarks in NYC: The Brooklyn Bridge. In collaboration with artist Colin Hendee, the Dopper Foundation is building a bridge made out of P.E.T. bottles, collected by the people of NYC. But our initiative goes further, because we are also creating an educational movement, teaching children about the effects of single-use plastic on our oceans and ourselves.
