Dopper is a social enterprise. This means that we aim to improve the world in a sustainable manner, rather than just try to increase our profit. Dopper’s mission is to achieve a world in which people are conscious of the environment we live in, where the amount of single-use plastic is reduced and where everyone, near and far, has access to safe drinking water.
What is a social enterprise?
Social enterprises are organizations that share the same objectives as foundations or charities, but function as companies in the private sector. And as it turns out… positive ideals and entrepreneurship go together perfectly! Dopper also has the need and desire to grow and make a good financial return, and we do this by having a positive impact on the world.
In the Netherlands, there is no specific legal form for a social enterprise yet, so Dopper exists both as a product provider and as a foundation. The Dopper Foundation is funded by 5% of the net sales of the Dopper, as well as sponsorship and donations. The Dopper Foundation was created in 2013 and finances water and sanitation projects around the world. Together with the Dopper Academy, the Dopper Foundation develops educational programs in countries where regular tap water is safe but single-use plastic is still abundant.
In 2014, Dopper became a B Corporation after going through a process in which our position as a social enterprise was objectively assessed. Click here if you want to know more about the B Corp certification.
